","link":{"title":"Find out more","url":"https:\/\/lungfoundation.com.au\/national-directory\/","target":""}}]},{"acf_fc_layout":"wysiwyg_content_area","heading":"The role of your employer ","content":"<p>Under WHS legislation, all employers are required to ensure the health and safety of anyone working in, or visiting, the workplace, and to control the risks associated with work.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re working with, or exposed to, hazardous agents, your employer is required to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct risk assessments<\/li>\n<li>Implement the Hierarchy of Controls and ensure you are following these<\/li>\n<li>In some industries, organise for you to undergo health monitoring and cover the costs<\/li>\n<li>Conform to Workplace Exposure Standards<\/li>\n<li>Issue you a Safety Data Sheet for each hazardous agent you\u2019re exposed to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is an agency in each state and territory which deals with controlling hazardous agents at work, as well as a national body (Safe Work Australia). These agencies can assist employees if needed.
