Charities, sit at the heart of our society. Charities rely on the generosity of passionate communities to create real and lasting change through leaving a gift in your Will. Yet research shows less than 8% of Australians choose to leave a charitable bequest in their Will. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a common misconception that only wealthy people leave gifts to charities. The reality is that the generous gifts left in Wills received by Lung Foundation Australia is very different. They have come from ordinary, hardworking people. These are people who want to make a positive difference for lung health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These amazing gifts in Will have helped us to invest over $40 million in research over the last 30 years. This support means we have seen advancements in treatments and an increase in survival rates. Quality of life across several lung diseases and lung cancer has been increased.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

More funding is urgently needed to continue these breakthroughs in lung disease and lung cancer research. Funding gives hope to the 7 million Australians that live with a lung condition. Hope for a cure.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow more than ever, we need to work together and build on the momentum to drive real and lasting change. Thanks to our incredible community, we\u2019re seeing advancements every single day in lung disease research. But there is a long road ahead of us,\u201d Lung Foundation Australia CEO Mark Brooke said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor rare lung diseases like pulmonary fibrosis<\/a>, while research is discovering treatments that help to slow the progression of the disease, we still don\u2019t understand what causes it. For those impacted by lung cancer, five-year survival rates are just 17%. Yet when we look at the likes of breast and ovarian cancer, we can see first-hand how research investment drastically improves outcomes.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaving a gift in your Will, also known as a bequest, to Lung Foundation Australia is a wonderful act of kindness and commitment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
